Artist Bio
Jonas Rodriguez
Jonas Rodriguez (Rozon) born in 1978 in Santiago, Dominican Republic, since early age his love and interest for the visual arts was apparent and always used as a means of expression. Through his art he sought to depict the beauty of his surroundings even in the face of the harsh economic conditions of his upbringing, the decreasing interest in art of his community and the loss of morality around him. His wish was to show that life was still beautiful, full of enjoyment and that God was our guide to live a better and meaningful life.
His parents saw the great love and passion for art and encourage his journey by sending him to several of the best art school in the country:
- Escuela nacional de bellas arte (National Institute of Arts)
- Instituto de cultura y artes (ICA)
Now he is one of the most sought out and prolific painters in the country, donating his art for charitable causes such as disabled and orphan children, helping the local community where he was born.
